What is Pinas? How to understand it in simple language?

There are different air sacs in our head. There are air sacs in the facial bones near the nose, called sinuses. There are four types of sinuses around the eyes. That sinus is connected to the nose.

The sinus between the eyes is called the ethmoidal sinus and the sinus inside the ethmoidal sinus is called the sphenoidal sinus. The frontal sinus above the eye is called the maxillary sinus, the one below the eye is called the maxillary sinus. The largest and most troublesome sinus is the maxillary sinus.

When the exit channel of the sinuses is blocked, the way out of the sinuses is blocked and it becomes infected with bacteria or viruses. Pinas is called sinusitis in English.

What can be the main reason for Pinas?

Pinas occurs for various reasons. If there is an infection in the nose or throat or if there is a cold, it will be Pinas. It may also resolve itself after some time, which is called viral pinna. Viral pinworms can turn into bacterial pinworms.

Similarly, if there is an allergy, tooth infection, crooked nasal bone, if the nose is swollen after many allergies, there is also a blockage in the nasal passage. Pinas can also be caused by blood problems, which are rarely seen.

People with allergies, asthma, structural blockages in the nose or sinuses, or people with a weakened immune system are at high risk.

In which case is Pinas complicated?

There are two types of sinusitis, acute sinusitis and chronic sinusitis.

Acute Sinusitis (Pinas): Sinus that appears in less than three weeks is called acute sinus. The symptoms of which are pain in the lower part of the eyes, headache, fever, yellow and green nasal discharge, yellow phlegm, loss of smell and bad breath.

Chronic Sinusitis (Pinas): Pinas older than three months is called chronic sinus. When this Pinas occurs, the nose becomes blocked, green and yellow horns appear, the throat becomes hoarse, and the cough persists.

What is its treatment?

Usually after catching a cold, it should be cured in 10 days, regardless of taking medicine or not. If the cold lasts for more than 10 days, the nose is blocked, and the face hurts, you can go to the doctor for treatment. At first, the doctor looks at whether the cause of pinna is new or old pinna. Then there is a clinical test. If necessary, sinus x-ray, CT scan is followed by treatment.

If you have acute sinus, it is said to clean the nose, not to eat cold food, give medicine to open the nose and eat bland food. It can fix itself. If Pinas causes pain even for 10 to 12 days, oral antibiotics should be taken in consultation with the doctor.

We give antibiotics to patients with chronic pinworms. Most of them can be cured with medicine. But if it doesn't heal even after that, surgery is required. If the nasal bones are thick, the flesh is growing in the nose, it is getting pinched, then surgery must be done.

By removing the outer part from the inside, the enlarged tissues can be balanced by endoscopic sinus surgery. If there is a crooked bone, it needs to be treated with splinting. Pinas can happen to people of any age and sex.

Can it be cured by home remedies?

If it's a short period of time, most will heal on its own. Simple salt water, nasal drops in the nose, and the use of painkillers can also cure viral pinworms. If Pinas does not heal after 12 days, other treatment should be done.

What should be eaten?

Pinas is also caused by allergies to various things, so you should change your habits and lifestyle to control allergies as much as possible. Cold and oily food should not be eaten as much as possible. Smoking habit is also one of the causes of pinas. So it should not be consumed. It should not be done when there is pinas. As much as possible, lighter foods should be preferred.
