Maryland Terrapins men's basketball 


The Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team represents the University of Maryland in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college basketball competition. The team is a member of the Big Ten Conference and plays its home games at the Xfinity Center on the university's College Park campus.


The Terrapins have a storied history in college basketball, with over 1,600 wins and 24 NCAA Tournament appearances. The program has produced several All-Americans and NBA players, including Joe Smith, Steve Francis, Juan Dixon, and Greivis Vasquez.




The team has had its share of success, winning the NCAA Championship in 2002 and reaching the Final Four in 2001 and 2010. The Terrapins have also won the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) three times and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season and tournament championships multiple times.

The current head coach of the Terrapins is Mark Turgeon, who was hired in 2011. Turgeon has led the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances and two NIT appearances in his eight seasons at Maryland.

The Terrapins have a long-standing rivalry with the Duke Blue Devils, with the teams meeting over 100 times in their history. The rivalry is known as the "Duke-Maryland rivalry" or the "Maryland-Duke rivalry".
