Telecom offering free e-SIM from Friday
The government-owned telecommunication company Nepal Telecom is going to launch the commercial launch of Internet-based SIM cards (e-SIM) from tomorrow, Friday.
The company is going to provide customers with an e-SIM that can be 'embedded' in mobile and other digital devices, as an alternative to chip-connected cards made of plastic and metal that are currently available in the market.
Telecom informed that free e-SIM will be provided to customers from Sundhara counter from Friday. Along with this, customers with mobile sets that support e-SIM can use the new technology SIM.
The company's customers who are currently using physical SIMs can change their postpaid and prepaid SIMs to free e-SIMs, according to Telecom. It has also been mentioned that e-SIM will be provided at the current selling price to the customers who want to get new postpaid.
It is seen that E-SIM will not be available immediately in the new prepaid SIM card. According to Telecom, customers who want to get a new prepaid SIM card will have to wait for some time for the E-SIM. However, old prepaid customers can convert their old SIM to e-SIM.
For that, it is mentioned that the customer should fill the necessary form to get the SIM and submit it at the counter.
