Sharing News on Social Media Makes People Confident - Study
A study concluded that people become more confident when sharing news and articles on social media. According to a psychological study conducted by the University of Texas in Austin, USA, it has been found that sharing news online increases people's confidence.
According to The Journal of Consumer Psychology, people who share news on social media feel that they are intelligent and knowledgeable about current affairs.
It is found that it helps in increasing their confidence.
The study also mentions that when a news or article is shared publicly on social media, the expertise on a subject hidden within the person is marked.
The report mentions that even if users share without reading the news or just reading the headlines, it makes them feel that they are knowledgeable personalities.
People feel more informed when they share news online, especially with those close to them.
"Sharing increases confidence. Because by putting what they know online and on social media, the person has established an identity of expertise on that subject," the report says, "so they feel themselves to be more knowledgeable on that subject. This increases their confidence.”
According to data taken from the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, 51 percent of those who open the news read the whole news.
Similarly, 26 percent read only some parts, while the remaining 22 percent readers read only the headline and some important lines.
